NOTICE TO ALL VISA APPLICANTS

• All applicants are required to carefully read the visa requirements before applying. Incomplete documents will not be processed by the Embassy.
• Applicants are required to filled online application at NIS portal; www.immigration.gov.ng
• All applicable visa fees must be paid into Mission's Bank Account in US DOLLARS and are NON-REFUNDABLE
• Interview will be conducted for some applicants where necessary
• Visa is issued only for a maximum of three months validity
• Applicable visa fees MUST be paid online before the processing of visa can begin. Prove of online payment must be submitted.
• Processing of visa is concluded within 5 working days. Please note that due to occasional unexpected delays, the processing time can take longer.
• We strongly encourage you to plan your visa application well in advance of your scheduled travel to Nigeria
• The Embassy/Liaison Office, Sofia DOES NOT ACCEPT any extra fees to expedite the visa process. Only the exact visa fees apply.
• There is no guarantee that you will receive a Nigerian visa if you choose to apply.
• There is no guarantee that applicants applying for multiple entry visas will receive them automatically. Multiple entry visas are issued at the discretion of the Visa Officer after the approval of the Ambassador.
• Applicants are advised to wait for an email from the Visa Department informing them  the visa process has been completed.
• Visa enquiries should be made via e-mail(nigerian_sofia@yahoo.com) after 7 working days from the date of submission,  if the Visa Department has not contacted the applicant.
• The Visa Department will not reply to emails sent during the processing period asking for the status of the visa application.
• The Embassy Liaison reserves the right to request additional documents. We cannot give you definite advice concerning what documents are adequate for an application. It is at the discretion of the Ambassadorr to decide whether the submitted documents are convincing enough to approved  issuance of  the visa
• The Embassy Liaison Office ONLY accepts visa requests from citizens of Bulgaria. Citizens from other countries  are required to possess a  residence permit in Bulgaria before they can apply through the Embassy Liaison Office.
• Citizens from the aforementioned countries who are resident in other countries are expected to apply at the Nigerian Embassy located in their country of residency. The visa fee also varies from country to country.
• All non-English supporting documents should be translated and authenticated by appropriate authorities (The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in home country or its Embassy in Bulgaria)
• All visa applications will be processed within 7 working days, if the requirements are met and all supporting documents are attached. Forms that are not fully completed, signed and dated or with incomplete requirements and supporting documents will not be accepted.
• All supporting documents MUST be photocopied and attached to the application forms.
• Applicants travelling on tourist/visitor or business visas are not permitted to undertake any employment during their stay in Nigeria. Applicants intending to work in Nigeria are advised to apply for a STR or TWP visa.
• Applicants who have been refused visa can only re-apply after 6 months.  If however, the refusal of visa was based on the submission of fraudulent documents, re-applying will be after one year

Tourist/Visitor’s Visa

• Two sets of fully completed online application forms and online payment receipts.
• Two colored passport-size photos
• Passport (at least six months validity from the date of application and one empty visa pages).Two parallel pages in the passport are considered as one page
• Letter of invitation from inviting party in Nigeria addressed to  Embassy of Nigeria, Bucharest, Romania or Liaison Office, Sofia- Bulgaria (Original copy)
• Passport copy of inviting party
• Copy of previous Nigerian visa(where applicable)
• Flight reservation
• Applicable visa fees (non-refundable). The Embassy only accepts cash payment in US dollars to its Bank Account.
• Valid international health certificate of vaccination (Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory). Other necessary vaccines should be recommended by your local Hospitals. A copy should be attached to the application
• All documents must be submitted in two copies
• All non-English supporting documents must be translated and sbumitted in English
• Expatriates resident in Nigeria wishing to invite their family/friends should send a copy of their residence permit, letter from his/her employer and passport.
• Tourist/Visitors Visa is not valid for employment

Transit Visa

• Fully completed online application forms and prove of online payment
• Two colored passport-size photos
• Visa to the final destination
• Flight reservation
• Seaman’s book (where applicable)
• Passport (at least six months validity from the date of application and one empty visa page). Two parallel pages in the passport is defined as one page.
• Application for transit from company in  Nigeria (where applicable)
• Applicable visa fees (non-refundable). The Embassy only accepts cash payment in US dollars to its Bank Account.
• Valid international health certificate of vaccination (Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory. Other necessary vaccines should be recommended by your local hospitals.)
• Copy of residence permit (where applicable)
• All documents must be submitted in three copies
• All non-English supporting documents must be translated
• Visa not valid for employment

Business Visa

• Fully completed and signed application forms
• Three colored passport-size photos
• Passport (at least six months validity from the date of application and one empty visa page).Two parallel pages in the passport are considered as one page.
• Flight reservation
• Letter of invitation from the company in Nigeria stating acceptance of full immigration responsibilities, the purpose of trip and duration of stay (Original Copy). This letter must be addressed to the Embassy.
• Letter from local employer stating the purpose of trip to Nigeria with details of the applicant's position within the company, duration of stay, whether all expenses are covered by the local company.(Original Copy)
• Passport copy of inviting party (where applicable)
• Certificate of Incorporation of the company in Nigeria(Certified true copy)
• Company registration of applicant (for business owners if applicable)
• Copy of previous Nigerian visa (where applicable)
• Seaman’s Book (where applicable)
• Valid international health certificate of vaccination (Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory. Other necessary vaccines should be recommended by your local hospitals.) A copy should be attached to the application.
• Applicable visa fees (non-refundable). The Embassy only accepts cash payment in US dollars to its Bank Account .

Temporary Work Permit (TWP)

• Fully completed and signed application forms
• Four colored passport-size photos
• Letter of invitation for TWP visa (addressed to Visa Department, Embassy of Nigeria, Bucharest, Romania) from the prospective employer and also stating acceptance of full immigration responsibilities
• Passport (at least six months validity from the date of application and one empty visa page).Two parallel pages in the passport are considered as one page.
• Original copy of immigration cable. Photocopies will NOT be accepted.
• Valid international health certificate of vaccination (Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory. Other necessary vaccines should be recommended by your local hospitals.) A copy should be attached to the application
• Flight reservation
• Translated and legalized Diploma certificate(Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Sofia
• Seaman’s book (where applicable)
• Certificate of incorporation of the company in Nigeria
• Copy of previous Nigerian visa (where applicable)
• Applicable visa fees (non-refundable). The Embassy only accepts cash payment in US dollars to its Bank Account
• Copy of residence permit (where applicable)
• All documents must be submitted in two copies
• All non-English supporting documents must be translated

Subject to Regularization (STR)

• Fully completed and signed application forms (Two copies)
• Two colored passport-size photos
• Passport (at least six months validity from the date of application and one empty visa page).Two parallel pages in the passport are considered as one page
• Certified copy of Expatriate Quota approval
• Letter of confirmation of quota status from the Nigerian Immigration Service indicating that the positions to be occupied still exist. Applications without this document will not be accepted. This applies to renewal of expatriate quota and additional of expatriate quota documents.(Original Copy)
• Letter of employment to the applicant
• Acceptance of employment by the applicant
• Letter of invitation for STR visa (addressed to Visa Department, Embassy of Nigeria, Bucharest, Romania) from the prospective employer and also stating acceptance of full immigration responsibilities (Original Copy)
• Certificate of incorporation of the company in Nigeria(Certified true copy)
• Certified English translations of all relevant credentials and certificates, which should be authenticated by the applicant’s Embassy in Sofia or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant's country. The original documents shall be sighted and returned. (Note: Documents submitted by Bulgarian nationals and translated into English by the Bulgarian Translation Office need not be authenticated by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
• Valid international health certificate of vaccination (Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory. Other necessary vaccines should be recommended by your local hospitals) A copy should be attached to the application
• Flight reservation
• Copy of previous Nigerian visa (where applicable)
• Seaman’s book (where applicable)
• Applicable visa fees (non-refundable). The Embassy only accepts cash payment in US dollars to its Bank Account .
• All documents must be submitted in Four copies
• All non-English supporting documents must be translated
• Applicants intending to travel with family will be required to regularize their stay in Nigeria before inviting their family

Diplomatic/Official Visa

• Fully completed and signed application forms (2 copies each)
• Two colored passport-size photos
• Note Verbale or Official Letter from the  respective Embassy, Foreign Ministry or International Organisation

Diplomatic relations between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Bulgaria were established on March 10, 1964 at the ambassadorial level. However, there is not enough diplomatic activities between the two countries to maintain a full Embassy. Therefore, the existing representative office of Nigeria is accredited to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bucharest, Romania
