Nigeria Official / Diplomatic Visa

               



Visa

Official and Diplomatic visas in the Nigeria Visa Policy (NVP) 2020 are both Short Visit and Temporary Residence Visas (TRVs) Official / Diplomatic visa classes. Newly added is the Non-Accredited Diplomati Visa class. All visas are obtainable only through the Nigerian Consular Missions.

 

 

Criteria

The Official / Diplomatic visas are only allowed for Visiting Statesmen/Stateswomen and their families, Top Government officials and their families as well as Accredited Diplomats and their families. Holders of United Nations / International Agencies Diplomatic Passport and Laisser Passez. Non-Accredited Diplomats may also apply for special class of visa. These residence permits are available only to accredited diplomatic passport holders who fullfil the requirements.

 

Basic Requirements

  • Official / Diplomatic Passport valid for at least 6 months with at least 2 blank pages.
    (Standard Passport accepted if dependant of official / diplomat) 
  • Note Verbale from Foreign Ministry of applicant’s home country or appropriate International Organization. 
    (This is used to obtain an Authorization Letter from the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

  • Printout of completed Online Visa Application form.
  • Printout of the Online Payment Acknowledgement slip. 
  • Two (2) recent Passport sized (35/40mm) Photograph.

F2A : Non-Accredited Diplomat Visa

SVV Single Entry Gratis Visa. Maximum of 90 days stay. Obtainable only through the Nigerian Consular Missions

R1A : Accredited Diplomat Visa

TRV Renewable Work Permit. Two (2) years gratis visa. Obtainable only through the Nigerian Consular Missions

R1B : Spouse of Accredited Diplomat Visa

TRV Renewable Residence Permit. Dependent on Principal Diplomat Visa. Obtainable only through the Nigerian Consular Missions

Application Procedure

Step 1: Gather Requirements - Get a copy of the Visa Approval Letter issued to your employer and prepare all other requirements.
Step 2: Apply Online - Complete the NIS Online Visa Application and print out the completed form
Step 3: Pay Online in the same aforementioned online application process and print out payment receipt.
Step 4: Affix 2 Passport sized Photographs (35/40mm) with white background with neither head covers nor face covers.
Step 5: Submit Application with the completed form and attached requirements to the Nigerian Mission only.
Step 6: Visa Interview - There might be a scheduled interview depending on the visa type and/or if it is the first time you apply.

 

Important Information

Visa validity: Applicant should enter Nigeria within 90 days from the date of issue.
Caution: This Visa is not valid only for official / diplomatic person.
Processing Timeline: 2 – 3 working days from receipt of application.

 

Note: Under the new Nigerian Visa Policy 2020, The former Official / Diplomatic Visa class is included in two visa categories: the Short Visit Visa (SVV) and Temporary Residence Permit (TRV). The Official Visa is obtainable only through Nigerian Consular Missions around the world. Applicant may need to show up at the Nigerian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate for verification if necessary.
