Two years after the lauch of Nigeria's 10-year validity International ePassports, the Government has announced its readines to issue the long awaited enhanced polycarbonate booklet with 64 pages passports to Nigerians abroad. The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service said the process would commence shortly in Nigeria Foreign Missions, starting with London and Atlanta.

Intending Applicants should note the following: 
 

1. The New 10-Year Validity Passport Requires National Identification Number. If you do not already have the NIN, you can apply for both the NIN and ePassport concurrently in abuja. However, overseas, you must apply for and obtain the NIN first before applying for the 10-year ePassport.  
    
2. If your current passport is still valid for over 6 months, you cannot apply for the 10-year validity passport except under special circumstances. 

All other requirements remain the same as for the regular 5-year validity ePassports.
