Resumption of direct flights from Angola to Nigeria to commence 27th September, 2021.
The information was contained in a release by the Angolan carrier, following the meeting of the Nigerian Ambassador to Angola, Professor Monique Ekpong and the president of Angola João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço on the occasion of her presentation of letters of credence.
In her remark, Prof Ekpong had requested the return of direct flights from Luanda to Lagos to ease trade and tourism, which the president granted.
Interestingly, in less than a month after her resumption in office, the Angolan president has stayed true to his words by mandating the country's Minister for External Affairs to take immediate action.
Her Excellency, Professor Monique Ekpong paid a courtesy call on the Angolan Minister for External Relations (MIREX) Ambassador Téte António on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
The visit was a follow up to the approval given the Nigerian diplomat by the Angolan President, as regards restoration of direct flights to Nigeria from Angola. Other pressing issues also touched in the meeting with the minister were prompt documentations and visa procurements for Nigerians.
There will now be flights from Angola to Nigeria every Monday starting from 27th September, 2021. New frequent flight schedules in the first phase were also announced for Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lisbon, Sao Tome and Maputo.
This is great news for millions of Nigerians and Angolans who ply the route regularly for business or pleasure, as opposed to the stress and expenses of having to take a connecting flight through Ethiopia.
